Ruckhouse Community
Podiums, fire jumps, and a crew that shows up for each other. This is how Ruckhouse does a race weekend.
On August 29 and 30, 2026, a crew of Ruckhouse athletes loaded up and headed to the Spartan West Virginia Trifecta Weekend. Some went to chase podiums. Some went to finish their first Beast. Everybody came home with a medal, a few new bruises, and a longer list of reasons to keep showing up on the gym floor in Rochester.
The hardware came home. Antonio "AJ" Maneiro, one of our youngest competitors, raced up in the 16-17 age group at just 15 years old and took 1st place, beating second by almost 40 minutes. He has been training at Ruckhouse alongside his dad since he was 4 years old. Lauren Dunkle took 2nd in her age group, and she and her husband Ben Dlugosh are podium regulars at running and Spartan events. If you have ever wondered whether the training on our floor translates to a real course, this is your answer.
A Trifecta Weekend is a Spartan event where all three signature race distances run on the same venue in one weekend: the Sprint (5K, 20 obstacles), the Super (10K, 25 obstacles), and the Beast (21K, 30 obstacles). Finish all three in a calendar year and you earn your Spartan Trifecta. Racing them in one weekend compresses a year of goals into two days, which is exactly the kind of bad idea our members love.
It is not always about winning, though. It is about beating the you from yesterday, challenging yourself, and doing things you never thought possible. This trip had Ruckhouse family members competing for the very first time, athletes past their 100th event, and everyone in between - same team, same tent, waiting at the fire jump to scream each other across. That is the actual product at Ruckhouse. The medals are just proof of attendance.
Every athlete on that trip started somewhere, and most of them started with one class. We coach obstacle course racing year-round in Rochester, from your first fun run to your first Beast, with free training guides if you want to study up first.
